ABOUT THE OWNERS

We have been pet owners about 99% of our lives and animal lovers for as long as we can remember. As you can see in the picture above, we currently share our home with many pets or maybe I should say they share their home with us! (And this is just part of our family!) Pictured (beginning with the white cat and working clockwise) is Frosty, (Bob, Baby, Wrinkles & MC who have since passed over the bridge), , Frankie and Peanut.

Linda has volunteered some of her free time at a local vet office to gain added experience concerning pets' medical problems. She has spent SPAY DAY USA working for a local vet that spayed and neutered cats free of charge. Both Tom and Linda encourage spaying and neutering to help with the pet population problem in the area and the country as a whole.

In 1996, our company began Sitters For Strays to benefit the homeless animals at the Concerned Citizens for Animals, our local non-kill animal shelter. We are happy to say that in 1997 we doubled our collections for the cause. In 1998 we collected money to donate to their spay/neuter progam. We are hoping to to bring it back (or somehow get involved in another similar event) in the future.

We also believe in networking with other pet sitters and other pet related businesses, that way we can help people find the best care for their pets. We also attend the Pet Sitters International conferences when we can. In 1996, Linda attended the one in Williamsburg and became certified in Pet First Aid and in 1997, we both attended the one in Las Vegas and Tom became certified in Pet CPR. In September of 1998, 1999 & 2000 Linda attended the Quest for Excellence again to learn more about our profession and to network with colleagues and friends from all over the country. We have each taken a course at Furman University taught by a local veterinarian, Dr. Margaret Roberts. Tom took her First Aid class and Linda took her course in Animal Behavior.

In June of 1998 Linda was fortunate enough to be able to attend a workshop in Emergency Animal Rescue Service in Charleston. I strongly recommend the book Out of Harm's Way by Terri Crisp to see what this woman has accomplished! I met her at the workshop and she is definitely one of my heros.

Many people ask us if we do anything else for a living. Pet Sitting is Linda's only job, although she does design web sites when she is not busy Pet Sitting (mostly updating our site and the continuous work on the CSU site). Tom does have another job-but his heart is in our company. If you would like to know more about our company or us, just pick up the phone and give us a call. We would love to talk to you.

And now here is a kiss!
